GMO Skirts

I made skirts that my friend Mascha will wear next month when she walks from Princeton, NJ, to Washington DC to raise awareness about genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) in our food supply.

From October 1-16, 2011, my friend Mascha Miedaner will participate in the walk from New York City to Washington, DC, to raise awareness about GMOs (genetically modified organisms) in our food supply. I made Mascha skirts to support her in her portion of the walk from Princeton, NJ, to DC.

Mascha is the Executive Director of the GMO Free Project of Tucson, an educational group that provides education about the presence of GMOs in our food supply and the steps that can be taken to avoid them.

The Right 2 Know March is a mobilization of people to demand labeling of genetically modified foods. Right 2 Know organizers describe it this way:

“American citizens deserve the same right to informed choices about the food we put in our own and our children’s bodies. We hope the boldness of this action inspires major media coverage and creates pressure in the 2012 election cycle for politicians to take positions and enact legislation requiring Genetically Engineered foods be labeled. In many ways this march is the beginning of a new broad-based movement for GMO labeling.”
